Step 1

Benefit check

ICAN contacts your insurance plan and estimates your total cost for the evaluation. This is our best estimate based on the information your insurer provides.

Step 2

Evaluation deposit

Before testing begins, ICAN requires a deposit equal to your estimated total cost. The deposit is held and applied toward your final patient balance after insurance processes all claims.

Step 3

Final adjustment

If insurance pays more than estimated, you receive a refund. If insurance pays less than estimated, the deposit is applied to your balance and you are responsible for any amount that remains.

Important: A benefit check is an estimate, not a guarantee of coverage. A comprehensive diagnostic evaluation includes more than the time your family spends in appointments. Scoring, clinical analysis, interpretation, care coordination, and report writing may be billed on dates when you and your child are not present. These charges are part of the evaluation series and may process separately through your insurance plan.

Does an evaluation always result in a diagnosis?
No. The goal is to understand your child’s profile and answer the referral questions accurately. The findings may or may not support a specific diagnosis.
How long does in-person testing take?
Testing length depends on your child’s age, needs, and referral questions. Most appointments take approximately one to two hours.
Can ICAN help after the evaluation?
Yes. Recommendations may include school supports, community resources, parent support, or services such as ABA, speech, occupational, or feeding therapy.
Does ICAN accept every insurance plan?
No. Participation and diagnostic coverage vary by plan. Complete registration so our team can review your information, and confirm benefits directly with your insurer.
What happens if insurance does not cover the evaluation?
Families may choose the private-pay diagnostic series when insurance is unavailable or the service is excluded. Current rates are listed on ICAN’s private-pay information page.
